Dr. Şükrü Yenice is a highly respected Internal Medicine and Hematology specialist with more than four decades of clinical experience. He is widely recognized for establishing the first comprehensive Hematology Clinic, Genetic Blood Diseases Research Laboratory, and Apheresis Unit in the Aydın region.
Born in Nazilli on 23 April 1957, Dr. Yenice graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1983. He completed his Internal Medicine specialization at the Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinic of Ankara Numune Hospital, where he later served as Chief Assistant.
After completing his military service, he pursued higher specialization in Hematology at the same hospital’s Hematology Department and again held the position of Chief Assistant. He also participated in the Immunology doctoral program at Hacettepe University.
In 1997 he voluntarily transferred to Nazilli State Hospital, where he established the region’s first comprehensive Hematology Clinic, along with a Genetic Blood Diseases Research Laboratory and an Apheresis Unit. He later served as Chief Physician of the hospital for six years (1999–2005).
He has been deeply involved in national efforts against hereditary blood diseases, particularly the prevention of thalassemia births and the treatment and rehabilitation of existing patients in the Aydın region. He contributed to the preparation of Turkey’s first “Regulation on Combating Hereditary Blood Diseases” and has served on the National Hemoglobinopathy Council and the Ministry of Health Hemoglobinopathy Scientific Board.
